James Cosgrave



James has been involved in the film and theatre industry since graduating from The Academy of Dramatic Arts in 2003. With a strong background in martial arts he began training with the Irish Dramatic Combat Academy in 2004 in unarmed and armed stage combat.

He went on to become an instructor with the IDCA as well as a fight director and choreographer with several theatre companies and later went on to work as a stunt performer for both film and T.V

His fight direction theatre credits include

James recently choreographed the  action for the  opera Silent night for the Wexford opera festival,

He has worked on all 4 seasons of Vikings for the history channel as well as season 3 of Penny Dreadful for Showtime, he also worked on upcoming action drama Pilgrimage starring Tom Holland, Jon Berntal and Richard Armitage.

James produced and starred in the action short Calibre

As well as being a Certified IDCA instructor – James holds a 2nd degree Black Belt in Karate, a first degree Black Belt in Kickboxing and a Blue Belt in Hapkido

James  teaches stage combat for the B.A Degree in Theatre Studies at the D.I.T Rathmines and is resident combat instructor for  the Irish Film Academy in Temple Bar.
